Technics SL-DL1 Linear Tracking, Direct Drive Turntable.  Fully Automatic. Fully serviced and functional. T he Technics SL-DL1 is a fully automatic turntable with integral rotor/platter, direct-drive motor. The unit is fitted with a dynamically-balanced, linear-tracking tonearm with microcomputer control. Features include auto record size selection, 2-speed forward and reverse search function, auto cueing with muting and repeat facility. I often see turntables on Ebay where the seller describes them as "serviced" or "tested," with no details of what service work was done to them or how they were tested. Were they lubricated on the moving mechanisms?  Were the motors or platter spindles lubricated?  Was the old dried grease removed? Were the belts replaced?  Were the feet checked for deterioration?  Most of these turntables are 3-4 decades old, and regardless of the fact they may still work, all of them need some kind of service work done on them to make certain they will continue to work and work properly.  That's why I always describe what work I do to each table I sell, so you know what to expect out of your purchase. This is a good Technics SL-DL1 turntable, one of Technics better linear tracking models among the many they made.  It has two speed tonearm cuing movement and a repeat function and is fully automatic.  Great specs as well (see below). The entire unit, save for the plastic dust cover and bottom cover, are made of aluminum, and it's HEAVY, almost 16 lbs.  Mechanically, it is in great shape, having been inspected inside and out.  Cosmetically, however, it is a bit rough.  I generally like to offer turntables that are a little more pristine, being the picky seller I am, but it is what it is.  It isn't terrible, but there are signs of use, more so than I would like. As for the service work done on this table, the circuit board was removed and the old electrolytic capacitors were replaced with new ones. I removed the platter spindle and lubricated the platter bearing (which is essentially the motor bearing) and lubricated the tonearm rail and the gear mechanism that drives the tonearm.  I then replaced the tonearm belt with one designed for this Technics unit.  Replacement of the belt is critical for proper working of the tonearm.  After years of sitting, the tonearm belt has hardened in all of these units and is egg-shaped (I have a boatload of old ones from other tables-see pictures), making it hard for the tonearm drive motor to operate smoothly.  Lastly, the tonearm sensitivity pots were adjusted for smother  advancement of the tonearm during play. The platter mat and feet are still nice and pliable with no cracking.  The clear part of the dust cover has some scratching some of which could be polished out. The stylus on the Technics ATU4030LC cartridge was replaced with a new 0.3 X 0.7 mil elliptical stylus to make sure your records aren't being damaged by a stylus that some seller said was still "good."  Without putting it under  200X magnification and a working knowledge of stylus wear, it's impossible to know how many useful hours are left on a stylus before it starts chewing your records up.  That's why I almost always replace the stylus on the turntables I sell.  The AT cartridge is one of Audio Technica's better P-mount cartridges, with great channel separation and dynamic range.  And you can upgrade the stylus to a linear contact stylus to take it to the next step sonically. For the money, I don't think you'll find another SL-DL1 that's had as much work done on it as this one, even if cosmetically it's not the prettiest one out there.  Check out the specs on this table and cartridge below. I will pack your turntable using best practices to ensure it arrives on your doorstep in great condition. Technics SL-DL1 Turntable Specs Drive
