Description
This recorder was purchased new and was operated in a commercial environment from about 1992 to 2018, which was temperature and humidity controlled. It has been stored in my smoke-free home since then. This recorder will need servicing to bring it into peak operating condition. I was one of the operators of this recorder before it was retired, and we operated it with care. However, we were not electronics technicians--we cleaned the tape path regularly, demagnetized occasionally, and did not attempt any adjustments or component replacements. The rubber on the pinch roller has started to soften and will need to be replaced. The rubber belts inside are probably in the same condition. The tension rollers are slow to pivot and probably need cleaning and lubrication. The "TASCAM 34B" badge on the front has fallen off because the adhesive deteriorated, and is not available. All of the vacuum fluorescent display segments work event though the picture is of all zeros. There is some wear near the bottom of the front panel, under the meters. I did not attempt to clean this to avoid damaging the paint or markings.
