Condition details, sleeve: Minor handling, age, and use. Two slight stains on back - no edge splits.
Special details: This is an extremely scarce release from Ford, and has the blue Capitol label often used for Children's record releases [that began around 1953].
Putting the Davy Crockett theme song on side one between two spoken word narrations from Crockett's journals could not have helped sales, since any kids that could come up with the dollar and a half to buy this would primarily want to put the song on high repeat with the record player via the reject mechanism.
Also, Ernie Ford had released the same Crockett theme song, already famous the world over from numerous covering versions, and backed with the other song 'Farewell', as a single, both 7" 45 and 10" 78 rpm [some with picture sleeve] in 1955.
Of course, it is largely unknown if that one came out for sale before, or after, this larger project.
The main difference between these two releases, other than the extra spoken material, is that every version of Ford's single released worldwide, and any of their sleeves, all have the words "WALT DISNEY" in use to identify the source of the material.
This EP release does not, and neither does the WLPRO version.
Additionally, the cardboard sleeve for this release has on it's back, the text of four long paragraphs with 'Ford' [his name is in the signature area] waxing nostalgic about Crockett's life and legend, and the influences that had brought to Ford's young life.
Front or back, no mention at all of WALT DISNEY.
So perhaps there were lawyers involved, and this one release had to be yanked off the store shelves.
Merely a guess on our part.
But it could have happened - records have been pulled from sale for lesser transgressions. ;-D
