Sony Handycam Fdr-ax33 4k Digital Video Camera Recorder

I had lent this camera to a friend for a few weeks and then now whenever it's turned on the screen flashes white at random moments and it lags behind sometimes. I'm not sure what happened, it can still record and take pictures, but the videos have white flashes and can clearly see that it's not normal. I'm not sure how to fix it but I'm hoping someone can. The camera is in great cosmetic condition, no scratches, dents, etc. Only used it every once in a while, for recording when going out on trips. Photos on this page are of the actual product.
