Otari MTR 12 in mint condition, has been in an active professional audio production studio, and is now for sale. It is calibrated for ATR tape, at 30 i.p.s, at 10kHz, 1KHz, and 100 Hz. Heads are in great condition. Unit has been maintenance by audio professional in Music industry. I have hardcopy of original manual with original maintenance copies, from original owner.
This OTARI MTR-12 1-2 inch was formally owned by FLYTETYME PRODUCTIONS LLC, the studio owned by Producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Item has been appraised and is valued at 5,000 to 8,000.00 USD, heads have good life left on them. Plus I am included the Master CPU, Capstan control, reel control, and audio control back up logic boards that the Otari uses for audio, and capstan, equalization, and operation for free, they are back up parts. Plus a set of brakes. And a new pinch roller, and it has a new tac roller for back up parts available, Comes with Manual. This Otari MTR 12 II is calibrated for +5 for the new ATR tape. thats really loud, signal to noise ratio.

Comes with back up logic board Capstan Control, Master CPU, Transport Control, Audio Control Logic board slide in front and latch down boards have back ups, and the audio 1 and 2 logic boards have ben re-capped by Chris Mara of Mara Machines appraised it in 2022 for 5,000-8,000 USD in value. Some may feel Otari's are not worth this, but, I suggest looking at top recording studios around the world you will find MCI , Otari or Studio, among the most common PRO machines, an MTR is a very clean extremely LOW noise, high signal to noise ratio. These MTR's sound very transparent that was their design, as in the mid 1980's analog technology hit is maximum technological height, and these MTR's had to compete with digital tape machines. Over the 40 years since, the digital tape machines, have become boat anchors and analog reel to reel pro tape machines are very sought after. This is from a well maintained working environment, and I must charge according to appraisal. Also the MTR has a high signal to noise ratio. With SRL, and on the fly adjustment of output and input signal to tape levels by an accurate VU. But with the low end, and 3 dimensional sound analog and only analog brings to a mix. Also these machines have creative uses, such as tape delay, for vocals, and instruments, and in 14 years, I have never had one single problem with my MTR 12.
Comes with 4 reels of ATR mastering tape of which are less than 4 years old. Also a new set of brakes for the reel motors are included, and a brand new tac roller and the pinch roller is an ATHAN is 3 years old. Heads are cleaned every time a reel is changed. The machine has been in low humidity at 63 to 69 degrees climate controlled studio and home. It comes with the luxury CB 109 remote auto locator, worth 800-1,000, and the CB 1111 remote for basic pitch adjustment, fast forward ,rewind, edit, playback, and stop.
