Jule Styne Acetate 10” Chappell-Styne Music Co. Dick Charles Recording Service
Great Adventure 22067 45 RPM
Includes a hand-signed letter dated February 20, 1967 from Styne to Yip Harburg. The letter says that this was to be a new song for “The Great Adventure”. Anthony Bennett’s 1908 novel Buried Alive was adapted into the play the Great Adventure in 1913. Harburg wrote the lyrics and Styne the music for the 1968 Broadway play, Darling of The Day, based on Bennett’s work. I am guessing, they were originally just going to use “The Great Adventure” title.
Acetate is in good VG condition, with some light background noise that never overpowers the music. Letter is in great shape.
Recording is instrumental, only piano, I would assume played by Styne.
I’ve included a 30 second video clip.
